In 2005, the U.S. Department of the Interior (Department) established a Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration Federal Advisory Committee in accordance with section 9(a) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) of 1972. The committee provided advice and recommendations on issues related to the Department's authorities, responsibilities, and implementation of the natural resource damage provisions of the Comprehensive Environmental
Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); the Oil Pollution Act (OPA); and the Clean Water Act (CWA).
